Giant banner in Thessaloniki honours those killed in the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus

A giant banner printed with the words “July 20 1974-Δεν ξεχνώ” was unfurled at Thessaloniki City Hall over the weekend, on the occasion of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

The unfurling of the banner was attended by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas as well as representatives from the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"Today we remember the tragic events of the summer of 1974 those that led to the barbarian invasion of Cyprus", the mayor said.
