Every Tuesday for the next three months, community members are able to pick up a nutritious hot lunch prepared by the chef of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, Aris Chatzigeorgiou.

The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW President Harry Danalis said the organisation was delighted to receive funding to help those struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.

"We applied for a grant to the New South Wales government and to the Canterbury-Bankstown council. They provided grants of $5,000 and $2,000. The aim is to provide for those that need it. There are no restrictions. Anyone who comes by is entitled to pick up food that our cook from the club has cooked and other produce that has been donated by Bakers Delight and others. It's our small way of giving assistance to those who may be in need," Mr. Danalis said.

Along with the hot meal, members of the public can also pick up bread, fruit and vegetables which have been donated.

"This is a great initiative from the New South Wales government and of course Multicultural NSW. We are providing $5,000 to help the NSW Greek Community provide food for those in need, particularly during this covid pandemic crisis we are seeing across the world. It's a great initiative," said State Member for Oatley, Mr. Mark Coure MP.
