Travellers to Cyprus from Greece must show negative coronavirus test

Greece will be classified in the 'Category B' countries as of August 6, the Ministry of Health of Cyprus announced on Sunday, after several people who arrived from Greek destinations tested positive for coronavirus.

This means that all passengers arriving from Greece, will have to present a negative coronavirus test certificate, no older than 72 hours.

The ministry also said that from Sunday until Thursday, authorities will increase random tests to passengers arriving from Greece.

*All passengers must fill out the CyprusFlightPass form within 24 hours prior to their flight.

Cypriot nationals and their families have the option of getting tested upon their arrival at Larnaca and Paphos airports. The cost of the examination is covered by the travellers themselves.

It is recalled that masks must be worn in all indoor crowded areas in Cyprus.

Those who don’t follow the new rule, will be fined €300.

At the time of writing, Cyprus has reported 1,150 coronavirus cases and 19 fatalities.

Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou said that a rollback of Covid-19 restrictions combined with a low infection rate led to “excessive complacency” by some people, whom he blamed for “choosing to recklessly violate health protocols” and “put public health at risk.”
