August Full Moon shines in the Athenian Sky

The full moon of August dazzled in the sky last night in Athens and what a beautiful sight it was!

The biggest and most popular moon of the year shined while seventy-seven archaeological sites, monuments and museums across Greece hosted free cultural events.

In Northern America, the August Full Moon is traditionally known as the Sturgeon Moon. In other parts of the world, this Moon is known as the Green Corn Moon, Grain Moon and even the Red Moon.

Every year the Ministry of Culture and Sports organises events to celebrate the August Full Moon.

This includes free admission to concerts, theatrical performances, dance performances, poetic recitations, documentary screenings, art exhibitions and stargazing events.

The events and the visit of the public to the archeological sites and museums were carried out in accordance with the applicable security protocols that have been drawn up for each archaeological site and museum in the context of limiting the spread of covid-19 and in accordance with the applicable security measures during their implementation.
