Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, accused the government of making successive mistakes and implementing an erratic policy in the management of the coronavirus pandemic.
His comments were made on his Facebook page.
"They did everything wrong and we are back at point zero. They should at least stop wagging their finger at us," he added.
He said it was 'provocative' that the government invoked personal responsibility and blamed the people for this outcome.
Among other things, Tsipras blamed the government for not imposing a mandatory 72-hour negative test on every tourist coming through all the gates: "They had three months to plan to open tourism safely, in a country that had, especially this year, something extra to present, the positive results of the non-spread of the virus. And instead of making use of it, ensuring it with special protocols and terms, they opened everything anyway. No plan, no effective precautionary measures."
He stated that "instead of taking advantage of the collective success and planning the next steps with safety, they acted with political goals as their only compass."
