Mosque servant dies in Hagia Sophia from heart attack

News has broken that the Muezzin of Hagia Sophia suddenly died on Sunday.

A Muezzin is one appointed to lead and recite the Islamic call to prayer, and Osman Aslan who was assigned to Hagia Sophia died of a heart attack, Turkish media reported.

In the statement made by the Mufti's of Constantinople, "Our Kagithane District Uhud Mosque passed away due to a heart attack during the voluntary guidance service in Hagia Sophia Mosque. We extend our condolences to his family and relatives."

His death came days after Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque and Muslim prayer was held there, decades later.

The Governorship of Constantinople also expressed their condolences to the Muezzin.

"We wish mercy from God to Allah, the family and relatives of Uhud Mosque, Muezzin-Kayyum, who passed away during the voluntary guidance service in Hagia Sophia-i Kebir Mosque, due to a heart attack," the Governorship said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, a flag of an Islamic extremist terrorist organisation inside Hagia Sophia, has been filmed and published on social media, as reported by Greek City Times.

“Afghan Taliban flag was raised in HagiaSophia, Turkey by pro-Taliban activists,” said Noor Dahri on Twitter.

“The conversion of Hagia Sophia was a motivational message [from the] Muslim Brotherhood to the world’s Islamist extremists and terrorists,” added the expert in Islamic extremism.

The Executor Director of Islamic Theology of Counter Terrorism ended his tweet with a dire warning that other Islamic extremists like ISIS will make similar moves inside Hagia Sophia.

“Soon, pro ISIS activists will raise their flag too,” Dahri said.

In addition, Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in international affairs and a medical professor, praised Turkey on Sunday for converting Hagia Sophia into a mosque, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

“We congratulate the Turkish people for this important Islamic success,” Velayati said.

Velayati criticised U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and said that Hagia Sophia will forever be a mosque.

“His ancestors converted all museums of the world into churches,” Belayati said about Pompeo, adding that “The Hagia Sophia, which has been a mosque for 500 years, will remain as a mosque until the apocalypse.”
