Early morning Aid mission from Greece and Cyprus to Beirut

In the early hours of Sunday morning the 9th of August, 2020, Chief of General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros and the Minister of National Defense Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Civil Protection, have authorised the landing tank ship Ikaria to travel to the port of Beirut.

The Navy Unit is transporting Medical and Nursing personnel from the Hellenic Navy, pharmaceutical products as well as materials collected by the Ministry of Civil Protection & Crisis Management.

Also at the request of Cyprus, the ship will load materials from the Port of Limassol before making its way to Lebanon

During its stay the ship in the port of Beirut the ship has specific instructions and protocols for protection against the COVID-19.
This will be implemented by all staff on board in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the National Agency for Public Health.
