At least five people have been killed and two others are missing, after a storm hit the Greek island of Evia, Deputy Civil Protection and Crises Management Minister Nikos Hardalias announced on Sunday.
Among the victims- an 86-year-old man and his wife, 85, as well as an 8-month-old baby.
The couple and the baby were found in separate homes in the village of Politika.
Two others also passed away attempting to escape the flood.
Firefighters continue to rescue those trapped in their homes, where in many places the water has reached more than 1.5 metres.
"It is a difficult day after a difficult night," Hardalias said.
A total of 31 fire engines with an 83-member crew, a group of firemen on foot, 3 rescue vessels are operating in the flooded areas along with two helicopters and air rescuers.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection advises citizens to be very careful and in case of emergencies, to follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
