A Greek Orthodox prayer for Beirut (VIDEO)

A Greek Orthodox prayer for Beirut has been released on YouTube by Father Kabarnos.

Father Nikodimos Kabarnos is one of the most famous voices in Byzantine music and his YouTube Channel has garnered over 60,000 subscribers and a total of nearly 15 million views.

Father Kabarnos is perhaps most famous for his 2017 Concert that he performed in Beirut and is uploaded to his YouTube Channel.

The Lesvian born Father released a prayer for Beirut, writing:

"A prayer for every soul that ascended to heaven and to the broken hearts of the city."

Father Kabarnos graduated from the Ecclesiastical High School and the Faculty of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Later, he enrolled in the Technical Institute of Cephalonia to study music. He is also a film and television director, having collaborated in productions of private channels.

He has sung in church choirs since he was a child and had Georgios Mihalleli, Dionisios Iliopulos and Spiridon Pavlaki, among others as teachers.

Once he entered the monastery, he was ordained a Hieromonk and appointed Archimandrite on February 2, 2009. He was assigned to the Archdiocese of Athens and dedicated himself to teaching Byzantine music classes.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Greece in Lebanon have reported that according to their sources, a Greek citizen died in the explosion that rocked Lebanon’s capital, Beirut. Two other Greeks were also seriously wounded, as reported by Greek City Times.

“According to information received so far, 1 Greek citizen among the losses & 2 seriously wounded. Embassy staff OK. Lots of damage recorded. Greek Orthodox hospital destroyed. Greece will stand by Lebanon in this difficult moment. Flag of Greece Search&Rescue team to land in Flag of Lebanon shortly,” the Embassy of Greece in Lebanon tweeted.

In a post on Twitter in English yesterday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his support for the Lebanese people for the tragedy in Beirut and noted that “Greece stands ready to provide any assistance needed.”

“On behalf of the Greek people, I want to express my deepest condolences to the people of Lebanon, especially to the families who have suffered losses, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. Our thoughts are with you,” the Greek Prime Minister also said.
