Ankara this morning issued a new Navigation Telex (NAVTEX) for seismic surveys to be conducted by Oruc Reis, in the same area it threatened to carry out explorations in July.
The designated area is south of Karpathos, Rhodos and Kastellorizo.
The NAVTEX is from the 10th-20th of August.
This new provocative move was expected, as the signing of a maritime demarcation agreement between Greece and Egypt angered Turkey.
It is recalled that according to information from OPEN TV, Ankara last week informed Athens that for its part, the exploratory contacts that were to start on August 24 are being cancelled for the time being.
“For us, the agreement is non-existent,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding: “There is no maritime border between Greece and Egypt. For Turkey, the alleged border demarcation agreement announced today was non-existent. This view of ours will be done both on the front and on the table.”

Further, Turkey commenced naval exercises on Monday in an area between the islands of Rhodes and Kastellorizo, an activity announced on August 6.
It is noted the Greek Armed Forces are on high alert on land, sea and air, and are closely monitoring Turkish movements.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will chair an emergency meeting today at noon with the the country’s top decision-making body on foreign affairs and defense matters, KYSEA, to discuss the developments.
