“Greek 4: For You”- New tourism campaign promotes four islands in the Northeast Aegean

The Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organisation announced the launch of a new campaign entitled “Greek 4: For You”, to promote four islands in the Northeast Aegean: Lesvos, Chios, Samos and Leros.

“Greek 4: For You” is funded by the Migration & Asylum Ministry and aims to rebrand the four islands through the newly launched exclusive website.

“This advertising campaign is the least we can do to give something back to the local communities of the four islands that have lifted the unbalanced influx of immigration. It is a very well thought out and targeted campaign, designed to achieve two goals: to stimulate the tourist flow of the islands and improve their wider image abroad,” Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis said.

The campaign reminds travellers that each destination has its own special, unique story:

• Lesvos – Tradition – An island to live your own myth. Try traditional recipes and discover the destination’s rich heritage.
• Chios – Exploration – An island you will never stop discovering. Explore local customs and look for moments that will last forever.
• Samos – Nature – An island of natural beauty that visitors are sure to fall in love with. Taste its culinary treasures and become one with nature.
• Leros – Infinite Blue – An island where the infinite blue dominates. Dive into its waters and get ready to live an unforgettable experience

The campaign will run for the next six months.

On his part, Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis said: “The aim of the campaign is the long-term promotion of these four islands- Lesvos, Chios, Samos and Leros- as attractive destinations for domestic and international travellers. Islands with a special identity and history, which offer unique experiences to the visitor. Since the beginning of the crisis, the ministry has taken a series of innovative actions to support Greek tourism and its people. And that is what we will continue to do in order to regain the lost ground of this season in the coming years.”

As of July 1, Greece opened to tourism following the relaxation of coronavirus-related restrictions.

All passengers arriving in Greece must fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others. The information on the form is a key element of the country’s planning for protection against the pandemic and preventing the spread of the virus.
