The youngest player ranked in the top 10 by the ATP, Stefanos Tsitsipas, admitted that Russia's Daniil Medvedev is the only player to have "p*ssed him off" during a match.
The friction between the pair dates back to the 2018 Miami Open. Angered by Tsitsipas' behaviour during the match, which included taking a bathroom break at one point, Medvedev following the post-match handshake, said it's better for the Greek teen "to shut the f--k up, okay."
Tsitsipas once branded Medvedev "boring", claiming his playing style was dull to watch and tedious to play against.
Both players have since suggested that hostilities have cooled, but this week when Tsitsipas was asked by a fan on Instagram about his relationship with Medvedev, he admitted that he had gotten under his skin like no other opponent.
"It's probably the only time in my life when I got p*ssed off during a match with my opponent," Tsitsipas said, adding "but let it all be in the past, let’s just forget it and move on."
The next meeting between the two could be at the US Open, which kicks off at the end of the month in New York.
