Greece imposes negative covid-19 test result for arrivals from Russia

From September 7, Greece will open its borders to Russian citizens.

According to the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) published in the Government Gazette, flights will only land at the airports of Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion (Crete).

500 Russian citizens per week will initially be allowed to travel to Greece provided they present a negative Covid-19 test result on arrival to the country. The test cannot be older than 72 hours prior to their arrival in Greece. Further, they must also present documentation of their residence (hotel booking or other accommodation) in Greece.

A fine of €5,000 will be imposed on those who violate the rules.

The decision will be in force until September 21.

All passengers arriving in Greece must fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others. The information on the form is a key element of the country’s planning for protection against the pandemic and preventing the spread of the virus.
