Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias on Friday briefed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Turkey’s provocations against peace and regional stability in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Dendias met with Guterres in New York and also delivered a letter from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the Secretary-General and requested that it be forwarded to the president of the Security Council.

“He gave me the opportunity to explain to him what is happening in the Eastern Mediterranean, that Turkish illegality is creating problems for stability and peace in the region, and we also talked about the Greek-Egyptian agreement, a copy of which I gave to him,” he tweeted.

The Greek FM also spoke with the US State Department’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Philip T. Reeker about developments in the eastern Mediterranean.

“I would like to reiterate that Greece is not negotiating with Turkey. Greece has made it clear that negotiations with Turkey can take place as soon as Turkish ships withdraw from the Greek continental shelf, not as long as they remain there," he said.
