Sergeant Konstantinos Meligonis, who was killed during a routine free fall parachute training exercise last week, was given a fitting funeral in honour of his devotion to his country.
Strong winds are thought to have violently pulled the paratrooper outside of the exercise’s designated airdrop zone, unfortunately causing the accident.
The funeral took place at St. Euphemia in Nea Chalkidona.
Droves of people from the military joined relatives and friends to pay their respects to the 34-year-old paratrooper.
Greece's Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos was also present, along with the head of the Greek military Konstantinos Floros.
