Hollywood star Tom Hanks has arrived back to Queensland to resume filming his latest movie, after being diagnosed with COVID-19 in March.
Hanks, who has returned to finish filming an Elvis biopic on the Gold Coast, was taken straight into hotel quarantine after flying into the state on a private jet on Tuesday night.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Hanks and other crew members working on the film were allowed entry into Queensland under the screen industry’s COVID-safe program.
It is recalled he also met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife Mareva Grabowski while vacationing on the Greek island of Antiparos.
Hanks and Wilson uploaded a photo of themselves holding their Greek passports, as they have been given honorary Greek citizenship.
The famous actor’s love of Greece is as well documented as his reputation for being the nicest guy in Hollywood. He converted to the Greek Orthodox faith before marrying Greek American actress Rita Wilson (who’s mother was Greek) over 30 years ago and has been travelling to Greece for decades. The photo of Hanks helping carry the Epitaph on his shoulders at his local parish’s Good Friday procession goes viral each Easter, shared by millions of Greeks around the world on social media.
Along with Wilson, Hanks was also a producer on My Big Fat Greek Wedding 1 & 2, Mamma Mia! (which was set in Greece) and My Life in Ruins.
