No surprise. Greece is among the 10 most searched countries for post-lockdown holidays worldwide.
The absolutely stunning country in southeastern Europe country, was ranked seventh on the list compiled by ESTA, an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States.
ESTA used the Google Keyword Planner tool to find the countries that people want to travel to, using terms such as “Flights to Destination X” and “Holidays in Destination X”.
Greece had 1,468,440 annual global searches.
The world’s most googled destination was Italy with 1,939,440. Following was The Maldives with 1,798,680 and in third place Mexico with 1,722,360 searches.
Greece was one of the first countries to reopen to foreign tourists this summer.
All passengers arriving in Greece must fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others. The information on the form is a key element of the country’s planning for protection against the pandemic and preventing the spread of the virus.
