Illegal immigrants CAUGHT on video starting fire in Greece's largest migrant camp

Although it is well established that illegal immigrants are responsible for starting fires that destroyed the infamous Moria migrant camp on Lesvos island, a video has emerged that catches fire starters in action.

At approximately 2pm local time today, STAR television caught the moment that illegal immigrants deliberately started a fire in in Moria camp.

Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis on Wednesday called for the immediate deportation of any residents of the Moria migrant camp who may have contributed to a fire that destroyed the facility earlier in the day, as reported by Greek City Times.

“People who do not respect the Laws of the Hellenic Republic and who destroy public property do not deserve asylum in Greece,” Georgiadis said in a post on Twitter.

Georgiadis, who is also vice-president of the ruling conservative New Democracy party, was reacting to allegations that the fire was started by residents reacting to lockdown restrictions and measures imposed after 35 people tested positive for COVID-19.

Greek government spokesman Stelios Petsas, said the fire at Moria camp was not an accident in interview on Mega TV station.

According to AMNA, the illegal immigrants revolted at the news that several of them will be transferred to warehouses, due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the camp. However the flames spread inside the overcrowded structure and destroyed the camp.

It is recalled last week, the first coronavirus case was reported in Greece’s largest migrant camp. The Moria Reception and Identification Center was placed under quarantine for two weeks.

According to the latest data, Greece’s overcrowded migrant camp on the island of Lesvos houses 12,714 people, several times its capacity of 2,757.

Tens of thousands of refugees and migrants, including thousands of unaccompanied children, are living in squalid conditions in overcrowded camps on several Greek islands after arriving from the nearby Turkish coast.
