Diplomatic movements as Greek FM speaks with his Russian counterpart

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. Bilateral relations between Greece and Russia were at the center of the communication, according to a post by the Greek Foreign Minister on Twitter.

"I spoke by phone to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Focus on Greek-Russian relations," Dendias said without revealing anything more.

Lavrov, according to SKAI, is expected to be in Athens in early November, when the role that Russia will play in the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean will be seen.

It is recalled that the Russian Foreign Minister was in Cyprus a few days ago where he discussed the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the prospects for the resumption of talks on the Cyprus issue.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be in Cyprus on Saturday, stressing that his visit is a continuation of US President Donald Trump's recent contacts with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Salenberg are expected in Cyprus next week.
