The Municipality of Athens launched a new way of serving citizens.
As of last week, citizens that need to visit municipal offices in order to process their affairs, can now easily book appointments online for 298 different services through the platform rantevou.cityofathens.gr.
The digital upgrade is part of the municipality's wider efforts to modernise its operations as well as reduce waiting time and avoid overcrowding for both citizens and employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Citizens are able to choose the day and time they want to visit the municipality.
Using their Taxisnet codes, interested parties can choose the procedure they want, be informed about the documents or supporting documents that they should have with them, and get other useful information.
The digital platform is user-friendly and respects the right of people with disabilities for equal access to municipal services.
"During the lockdown we managed to create a large, digital system for all the citizens who were suffering in the queues and the bureaucracy.... We have created a wide network of services that brings the [Athens] Municipality closer to citizens," Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis said in a statement.
For citizens that are unable to book their appointments online, they can call the service line at 1595.
