Team Greece win Channel Seven's 'Plate of Origin'

Cousins Dezi and Penny from Team Greece were crowned Plate of Origin champions, which aired on Channel 7 on Tuesday night.

The program featured ten teams cooking off against each other, based on national cuisines, in the “world cup of cooking”.

Team Greece won $100,000 with a total judges’ score of 76/90 after a three-course meal showdown with Team Vietnam.

"We have represented the Australian Greek community and now we’ve just won Plate of Origin! It is mind-blowing. I’m so grateful, this is beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of," Dezi told Media Week.

When asked by English-born Australian food critic, Matt Preston, if Greek cuisine was the best in the world Penny said: “Of course it is!”

Over 335,000 tuned into the epic three-hour grand final episode.
