Once again, illegal immigrants vandalised a Greek Orthodox church on the island of Lesvos.

This is the second time this year the church of Agios Georgios has been attacked.

Illegal immigrants destroyed the church where they temporarily stayed at, after a fire broke out at Moria reception and registration center two weeks ago.

Photos published by Protothema.gr, show the illegal immigrants had camped inside and outside the church. Icons have also been destroyed and empty water bottles and other garbage was left there.

The illegal immigrants left the church and entered the new camp on a former military firing range at Kara Tepe.

“It will take a lot of time and a lot of effort for the village to overcome this catastrophe”, a resident of Moria told Protothema.

As a deeply religious society, these attacks on churches are shocking to the Greek people and calls to question whether these illegal immigrants seeking a new life in Europe are willing to integrate and conform to the norms and values of their new countries.
