Tsitsipas advances to quarter-final in French Open for the first time

Stefanos Tsitsipas, Greece's biggest tennis star, defeated Grigor Dimitrov in three sets and joined the Roland Garros quarter-final for the first time in his career.

The Greek tennis champion defeated 29-year-old Grigor Dimitrov (6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-2) in the three sets and advanced to the next round in an impressive performance.

Now, of course, things are becoming even more difficult, as he will face Andrey Rublev, No. 12 in the world, who beat him a few days ago in the final in Hamburg. The 22-year-old Russian, however, had a difficult time against Hungary's Marton Futsovic, whom he eventually defeated 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-4, 7-6 (3).

Unlike Rublev, however, Stefanos was really imposing against Dimitrov. And when he managed to stay unscathed in the second set, everything became even easier. Dimitrov also helped a little in this, who lost his faith when he was left behind 2-0.

As in his two previous games, Stefanos entered the court very energetically and took a quick lead with 3-0. That one break proved to be enough to get the first set, although Dimitrov had three break points when Tsitsipas served for 1-0.

Tsitsipas and Rublev will meet for the 4th time, with the 22-year-old Russian leading 2-1 in victories. Rublev had saved Tsitsipas match points in the recent match for the Hamburg final 10 days ago and now he is running a series of 9 unbeaten matches, showing his great potential.
