A new era for recycling began in Athens on Thursday.
The Municipality of Athens is procuring 27 state-of-the-art new garbage trucks for recyclable materials and 4,000 new blue bins, bringing their total throughout the capital to 6,000.
"The essential recycling acquires a leading role in the daily life of the city, reaching every neighbourhood and every citizen," Athens' Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis posted on social media.
He also declared 2021, a recycling year for the Greek capital.
