Azeri football official banned by UEFA after calling for all Armenians to be exterminated

An Azerbaijani football club official has been banned by UEFA at least until investigations into his violation of the “basic rules of decent conduct” has finished because of the genocidal comments he made on social media against Armenians, Reuters reported.

The Qarabağ FK official was also charged with racist and discriminatory conduct over the disgusting comments.

The peak European football body said: “Nurlan Ibrahimov, is provisionally banned from exercising any football-related activity with immediate effect until the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body decides on the merits of the case.”

Ibrahimov is charged with racism (Art. 14(1) of UEFA Disciplinary Regulations), and violating the basic rules of decent conduct – Art. 11(2)(b).

The PR and media manager of Qarabağ FK called for the killing of all Armenians, old and young, before attempting to justify the Armenian genocide committed by Turkey.

Although the official has already deleted his post from social media, hundreds of users managed to see and save it.

“We must kill all Armenians – children, women and the elderly. We need to kill them without making a distinction. No regrets. No compassion," he wrote.

On Saturday, the Football Federation of Armenia had called for the Azerbaijani football club to be expelled from European football for the comments.

Qarabağ said in a statement on Sunday that it had opened an internal disciplinary case and that his comments were not supported by the club.

Ibrahimov claims that he regrets his comments.

However, only last month UEFA reprimanded players and officials from Qarabağ for performing a military salute during their Europa League qualifying match away to Legia Warsaw on October 1, just days after Azerbaijan launched its invasion attempt of Artsakh.
