Greeks still live in occupied northern Cyprus: They need your help this Christmas

The international NEPOMAK Cypriot organization is once again raising funds - this time for the very few Greeks who still live in occupied northern Cyprus.

After the 1974 Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus, the Greeks of Rizokarpaso on the Karpas Peninsula in the northeastern part of Cyprus became enclaved.

The 250 Greeks remaining there are under constant pressure, particularly from the Anatolian colonists and rely on the charity of the United Nation and the Greeks of Cyprus and the diaspora.

NEPOMAK is raising £1,500 for 'Help Rizokarpasso' to support the remaining Greek children enclaved in Rizokarpaso. You can donate here.

For the last 3 years, NEPOMAK UK has successfully run an annual Santa Shoe Box campaign, delivering gifts to vulnerable and impoverished children in Cyprus and to the schoolchildren enclaved in Rizokarpaso.

Due to the international crisis caused by COVID-19, NEPOMAK UK are unable to run the Santa Shoe Box campaign this year. However, vulnerable children in Cyprus need our help now, more than ever before.

This year, NEPOMAK UK is running a range of diverse events online to raise funds which they will donate directly to charities supporting children in Cyprus.

This year, we will be working with:

Caritas Cyprus (Cyprus charity number 517) – who currently support approximately 700 children (under the age of 18) and assisted more than 3,200 families so far this year.

Rizokarpaso's location in Cyprus.

Help Rizokarpasso (UK charity number 273005) – who support the schoolchildren enclaved in Rizokarpaso, living under occupation in the northern part of Cyprus.

Help us in spreading some Christmas cheer by making a donation - A small donation will go a long way in making a huge difference to a less fortunate child.

Follow NEPOMAK UK on Facebook and Instagram to follow our online events which will be running up to Christmas as part of our fundraising.

Our Christmas Charity Campaign is an initiative of NEPOMAK UK (the UK branch of the World Organisation for Young Overseas Cypriots). For more information NEPOMAK's website.

You can donate here.
