Zakynthos listed among world’s most beautiful places for 2020

Zakynthos, one of the Greece’s famous and most popular destinations, was cited anew, this time as among the 50 “most beautiful places in the world” by Big Seven Travel.

The global travel site ranked Zakynthos in 41st place, stating that this Greek island is the 'most mesmerising' of them all.

“Home to powdery beaches, jaw-dropping waters and the famous Navagio shipwreck it checks the history and landscape boxes. The real highlight, however, is the towering alabaster cove that perfectly frames the pristine Ionian waters below,” it wrote.

The top 5 most beautiful places in the world:

  1. Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
  2. Faroe Islands
  3. Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
  4. Li River, China
  5. Lake Bled, Slovenia

The list was drawn up by Big 7 Travel after it asked its 1.5million-strong social audience for their opinion, mined data from Pinterest and analysed the most-liked images on its Instagram profile this year.

Zakynthos

Zakynthos, island of big contrasts for the presence of golden beaches and massive rocky coasts, benefits from a Mediterranean temperate climate with mild winters and cool summers; the generous winter rains favour the growth of thick vegetation and assure a remarkable water reserve.

Those traveling to Greece from abroad (through airports, maritime ports and land borders), must present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours, upon arrival. Passengers must also fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival, providing information that will include their departure airport, the address where they will be staying and the expected duration of their stay in Greece, among others.

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority stressed that before accepting passengers for boarding, airlines must check:

  • the PLF submission confirmation at least the day before the flight, which is a mandatory travel document
  • the correspondence with the QR code and the PLF

Airlines that do not comply with this control obligation will be responsible for the repatriation of passengers at the expense of the company.
