A new team of police officers was put into action on Tuesday in Athens, whose job is to manage and contain 'low-risk' public gatherings.
The new team with the acronym ODOS, is comprised of 46 officers- 28 women and 18 men. They have been trained to carry out their new duties in the best possible way.
According to the Hellenic Police, the ODOS unit will “utilise communication and mediation techniques” to avoid possible escalations and tensions.
The ODOS officers wear a distinctive uniform with the team's insignia, they are not armed and are equipped with walkie-talkies whistles, first aid kits and flashlights.
