Health authorities in Greece and TRAINOSE are finalising the formation of a “Covid Train”, which will transfer patients from Thessaloniki to hospitals in Athens.
It consists of 4 coach-type wagons, a canteen-wagon and a sleep-wagon.
According to reports, each wagon can accommodate 30-40 patients.
It has been inspected by ambulance service executives who gave feedback on how the wagons can safely transport patients and medical equipment.
The transport is aimed for patients in need of normal wards, not those who need ICU care.
Thessaloniki is currently one of the most COVID-19 affected areas of Greece.
It is recalled earlier this week, 10 Cretan nurses arrived in Thessaloniki in order to help in the “battle” against COVID-19.
