November 21 is Armed Forces Day in Greece where we thank our soldiers

November 21 is a day of celebrating the Greek Armed Forces and the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, their Patroness.

The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos to the Temple, celebrates Mary's parents, Joachim and Anne, receiving a heavenly message that they would have a child and the preparation for her role as Mother of God.

The Virgin Mary is the Patroness of the Greek Armed Forces and today her feast day is celebrated.

Given this, in the midst of many challenges against Turkish aggression, the officers of Greece's army, navy and air force are constantly guarding Greek land, sea and air borders with courage and self-sacrifice.

This year, it is an opportunity for Greek children to get to know the history of the Armed Forces, in collaboration with the War Museum, through its multimedia applications, which include virtual tour, videos with 3D virtual battles and other digital media.

You can find it here.

To commemorate today, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias said on Twitter: "Many Years to the worthy executives of our Armed Forces. Pride, Honor and Recognition to the timeless defenders of our Homeland."

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis also said "A big thank you to the officers of our Armed Forces who serve the homeland with self-denial and a sense of duty. You make us proud."
