Ship becomes grounded in the Corinth Canal

The transits of ships and boats through the Corinth canal are suspended until Tuesday afternoon because of works to restore sinkholes, AMNA reported.

Last night, the Port Authority of Corinth was informed about an incident of the Seaven Star cargo ship inside the Isthmus with seventeen crew members on board.

The Seaven Star cargo ship grounded in the Corinth Canal.

The ship was detached from a floating crane while then the Seaven Star was towed by a tug and anchored safely outside of the Corinth Canal and to the port of Corinth, in order to carry out inspection works.

The departure of the ship was temporarily prohibited until a certificate of travel worthiness was issued.

No injuries were reported from the incident and no marine pollution was observed.
