Mitsotakis to volunteer nurses: Your battle against COVID-19 is deeply patriotic

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to thank the nurses who volunteered to work Thessaloniki, the epicentre of COVID-19 in Greece, on Friday afternoon.

In a teleconference from the Maximos Mansion, the prime minister spoke with 17 volunteer nurses who traveled from Crete, Argolida and Komotini to battle the COVID-19 pandemic in the Hippocrates hospital and AHEPA Thessaloniki.

"You left your homes, you left your families, you traveled to other homes and to other families all over Greece who need you. Your home is all of Greece, your families in this difficult time are all Greek women, all Greeks," he said to the volunteer nurses.

"It is not just a polite act, it is a deeply patriotic act and I want to congratulate you in person as professionals but also as volunteers on the front line," the Prime Minister stressed.

"At the time of the crisis, at the time when society - not the state - needed you, you raised your hand, you responded and I think this experience is a life experience for everyone," he added.
