Families across Greece aren’t letting the coronavirus pandemic dampen their spirits, with many already getting a head start on planning for Christmas this year.
Skroutz S.A., the leading price comparison engine in Greece, recorded up to 1.5 million sales from the eve of the lockdown on November 6 until November 22, up 63% from the previous period.
Transactions are set to soar further this week, with Skroutz already reporting 1.7 million visitors per day, against 1.1 million in the same week last year.
The biggest rise has been recorded in festive decorations, up 1,585% on last year.

Brightening up the second covid-19 lockdown in Greece, a huge Santa Claus has appeared in Katrakis Square, Glyfada (Athens).
“We did something else that we hope will bring a lot of smiles to everyone. Especially to our children. The biggest Santa Claus who has ever entered Glyfada, ten meters high, is in our city from today, at the corner of Lazaraki and Metaxa.
