Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls and Candice Swanepoel grace Vogue Greece cover

By 3 years ago

Three of the worlds most -in-demand supermodels Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls and Candice Swanepoel are beautifully whirling out the year in extraordinary fashion, teaming up for a spectacular cover shoot for Vogue Greece.

The stunning women have joined forces for Greece’s famous fashion publication's December issue, modelling a variety of black-and-white images which aim to 'pay homage to humanity'.

For the cover page, the electric trio is seen posing with their eyes closed as Irina and Joan flank Candice for the editorial, entitled 'Human After All', very fittingly describing the year 2020 has been.

Russian beauty Irina, 34, is seen striking a dramatic pose in a one-shoulder black dress, complete with a single glove, as she cups her famous face with her hands.

South Africa native Candice, 32, is illustrated with a balled fist covering one of her eyes in her solo close-up shot, which highlights her alluring eyes and amazing cheekbones.

As well as gracing the cover and pages of Vogue Greece for their editorial, shot by Robert Papier, the models also address the importance of activism and their readiness to use their position of influence to help out those in need.

Mother-of-one Irina is a volunteer at the River Fund, which helps feed those in need in New York, and Black Lives Matter supporter Joan Smalls is a co-founder of Donate My Wage, which raises money from people helping to fund the cause.

Joan herself has committed to donating 50% of her wage in 2020 to help out Black Lives Matter organisations.

Meanwhile, Candice has lent her support to Mothers2Mothers, an incredible organisation which aims to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa through modern medicine, education and employment for women and girls in need.

Commenting on this year’s cover, Vogue Greece's editor-in-chief Thaleia Karafyllidou said, "Vogue Greece traces the year that changed the world through the efforts of three celebrated supermodels who discuss the value of activism, while urging us to look beyond beauty in a photoshoot exuding sensitivity."

The statement from Vogue Greece continues:

"An array of emotions and human experiences, at the closing moment of what has proved both a challenging, but equally inspiring year.

"Through the 2020's globally connecting experience, moments of despair have translated to moments of action and contribution, but also personal introspection and reflection.

"Each of our cover talents breaks through their outer shell of undeniable beauty, diving into a vulnerable, connected and human state of being.

"We are left touched, related and unified, by this exploration of our Human Nature. Individual covers speak to vulnerability, whilst our group covers signify a time for unity and also reflection.'
