Greek Authorities issue €500,000 in covid-19 fines in just one day

Fines for breaching covid-19 public health directives in Greece totalled over half a million Euros in just one day.

On Saturday, authorities carried out 65,388 inspections.

€521,550 in fines and a 15-day “padlock” was imposed on two companies, while 1,773 violations were found.

Furthermore, two cafes were suspended for 15 days, one in Attica and the other in the Peloponnese, while at the same time fines of €5,000 and €3,000 were given to the owners of the businesses, respectively.

Latest covid-19 numbers in Greece

Greece recorded 1,193 new cases of COVID-19 in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

This raises the total number of cases to 104,227.

4,879 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 27,746 are related to an already known case.

Six hundred and three individuals are in ICU. Their median age is 65 years, and 162 of them are women. 76% have an underlying condition or are aged 70 years and above.

A total of 575 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

The country’s pandemic death toll stands at 2,321. The median age of all was 80 years and 96.7% of the deceased had an underlying condition and/or age of 70 years or more.
