Greece’s first domestically produced COVID-19 rapid test has been developed, the Ministry of Development and Investments announced on Monday.
The Ministry described this advancement, which involved six research centers and four universities, as a “major success" and the 2.9-million-euro research program has its patent from the Industrial Property Organization pending.
The Ministry also said that a company to produce the rapid COVID-19 testing kit is underway and that the program “puts Greece at the forefront of studying coronavirus developments and the production of knowledge for dealing with this health crisis.”
It added that the rapid test will help alleviate Greek health authorities as COVID-19 testing can be carried out at a mass scale.
