Attention Sydneysiders: Manly's newest Greek cafe and eatery, Kazzi Beach Greek, is now open.

It is also the first restaurant at Manly’s North Steyne Beach to offer outdoor dining, thanks to approval from Northern Beaches Council.

Kazzi Beach Greek is Australia’s most authentic Greek Island Taverna experience, showcasing the very kind of Mediterranean style offerings found along the blue shores of the Aegean.

It draws its inspiration from the Greek island of Kastellorizo (“Kazzi”). Kazzi’s Australian story is rich with many among our first Greek immigrants hailing from this secluded Hellenic hideaway.

The opening of Kazzi Beach Greek in Manly took place on December 1 and was attended by Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello MP, Member for Manly James Griffin MP and Northern Beaches Council Deputy Mayor Candy Bingham. The date also coincided with the NSW Government’s relaxation of outdoor dining rules.

And to celebrate the opening, of course there was plate smashing.

Kazzi Beach Greek owner, Peter Papas, said the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic should not stop people from enjoying an authentic Greek experience.

“Given we can’t travel to Greece during the COVID-19 pandemic, let’s bring a taste of Greece to Manly,” Mr Papas said.

This is Kazzi’s second location, having established itself as a local favourite at Balmoral Beach, Mosman.

“2020 has tested us all, so it is incredibly important to build the sense of community and provide employment opportunities for locals. Those two things were an important driver for me to bring Kazzi Beach Greek to Manly."

“Importantly, I’d like to thank the NSW Government and Northern Beaches Council for their efforts to relax outdoor dining restrictions. These efforts are an important way to safely expand dining experiences for locals. These actions will help us increase our capacity to serve customers under Covid restrictions and provide upwards of 45 additional jobs for the community," he added.

Customers can expect a Mediterranean diet-based menu that’s packed full of delicious, fast, fresh and healthy eats, paired with a traditional Greek welcome and service.

“As a proud Greek-Australian, I am passionate about bringing an authentic experience of Greece to the community. A traditional taverna experience on the beach at Manly is as close to being on a Greek island as it gets,” Mr Papas concluded.

Member for Manly, James Griffin MP praised Kazzi Beach Greek for providing an additional 45 hospitality jobs and said he looked forward to enjoying a Kazzi lamb wrap on the beach soon.

“This new Greek taverna will create 45 hospitality and other downstream jobs for locals at a time when they are needed most. From 1 December, all local councils will be able to apply to be part of the NSW Government’s streamlined approval process for outdoor dining. This will create jobs and help the economy heal after a tough year,” Mr Griffin said.

“Manly is a unique and strong community thanks to people like Mr Papas. I’m looking forward to taking my family for a traditional Greek island dining experience over the Summer break with the many people who will visit our world-famous beach,” he concluded.

Authentic, fresh and so delicious, you must let your tastebuds try Kazzi Beach Greek.
