Teddy bears replace diners at a cafe in Karditsa

A cafe in the centre of Karditsa has become the talk of the town.

While hospitality businesses are closed during Greece’s lockdown 2.0, a cafe in Karditsa invited teddy bears to dine, instead of their regular customers.

It is recalled a few months ago, Cyclone Ianos caused severe flash floods in the area.

Picking up the pieces, the owner decided to renovate his cafe.

Especially now with the country in lockdown, the beautiful image of teddy bears sitting on chairs at Destro all day services, offers a smile to passers-by.

“Against the weather, against the situation we all live in, we have decided to look at life in a positive light. From its beautiful side. In Karditsa we all suffered great damage in the winter with Ianos. Businesses and property were destroyed. And we together at Destro, decided to make a fresh start and not look at each other with folded arms,” cafe owner Vassilis Rovas said.

“For our own psychology, for the psychology of the citizens of Karditsa, our city, we made the decision to build the store almost from the beginning after the disaster we suffered and in view of Christmas even though we are closed and do not welcome people, to see an image that will set their mood. With the wish and the hope that soon we will all spend nice moments in the store together. The idea to put bears for customers and to decorate the store normally for the holidays, has already gone viral and I really like it,” he added.
