Two people arrested on espionage charges in Rhodes

Greek authorities have arrested two men and charged them with espionage they broke the law concerning high- security installations such as military bases.

One of the suspects worked on a passenger ship, which operates ferry routes connecting Rhodes island with the island of Megisti (Kastellorizo). The second suspect worked at the Turkish consulate as the secretary in Rhodes.

 

They are accused of videoing and photographing warships and military installations and passing on the information to an employee of the Turkish consulate.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the National Intelligence Services (EYP) and the assistance of the Rhodes Security Sub-Directorate.
