The Electoral College formally confirmed Joe Biden's election win on Monday.
He cleared the 270 electoral vote mark to formalise his presidential victory, with California's 55 votes taking him over the threshold needed to win the race for the White House.
Minutes after the Electoral College declared Biden’s victory, Donald Trump tweeted that Attorney-General William Barr would be leaving his job on Christmas Eve.
When all of the states finish voting, Biden is expected to lead Trump 306-232.
An official result will be announced on January 6.
