The Greek Cycladic island of Sifnos, was recently included in a list of "dream destinations" for 2020, published by the UK newspaper Evening Standard.
“…while most tourists descend on Mykonos to party or to Santorini to watch its famous sunset, those in the know are heading to its lesser known Cycladic neighbour, Sifnos, instead,” writer Laura Hampson notes.
In her feature, Hampson highlights Sifnos’ tasty cuisine, unique beaches and beautiful churches. "With great food, beautiful churches and some of the best beaches in the Cyclades, you’ll wonder why it took you so long to visit Sifnos."
The Evening Standard’s Dream Destinations section also provides information on what the island has to offer, including hiking trails, ceramic workshops, beach-hopping, ancient and historic sites, iconic churches, as well as a guide of its "burgeoning foodie scene."
"Tourism is the oxygen of our island's economy. Adapting to the conditions of the time, we are activating the circle of the friends of the island and participating in iconic exhibitions and digital tourist workshops, so that together with the tourism committee we address our target markets with modern means," Sifnos mayor Maria Nadali told AMNA.
Other dream destinations included in the Evening Standard’s section are Andalusia, Capri, the coastline of Mexico and Zambia.
International travellers
International travellers arriving in Greece are required to:
- Present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours, upon arrival. At the same time, passengers also need to fill in a Passenger Locator Form (PLF) at least a day before arrival.
