The wall of an apartment building in the northern Greek city of Drama, became the canvas for street artist Lefteris Toulis.

It is recalled Greece tightened coronavirus measures for a week, to deal with a flood of new cases.

The 30-year-old who is a graduate of the renowned School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki, has been living and working in Drama for the last few years.

With permission from the city, he created a mural which speaks about hope, unity and solidarity.

The piece depicts a figure, who exists both in the ancient and contemporary eras, wearing a mask.

It took Toulis five days and a crane to complete the street art.

Speaking to AMNA, Toulis compared the figure to the contemporary Greek citizen: “Wearing his mask, he fights within his own neighbourhood… he fights for his life, to stand on his own two feet, with a crutch, or a staff, as his weapon.”

He hoped to create an ancient Greek god for the current age, who “patiently awaits a brighter future” and reflects “the personal fight each one of us gives every day.”
