Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou spoke about a dark moment in American history after yesterday’s events in Washington and emphasized that respect for laws is the essence of democracy.
In a post on Twitter, Sakellaropoulou referred to the responsibility of those who instigated yesterday’s events and stressed the need for a smooth transition of the Presidency to Joe Biden.
In fact, she pointed out that leaders are the first to set an example.
“Respect for the rules is the essence of democracy,” she said on Twitter.
“Yesterday’s violence is a dark moment in American history and those who instigated it bear great responsibility,” she continued.
“The duty of all should be the smooth transition to Joe Biden’s presidency. Leaders are the first to set an example,” she added.
