The head of Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), General Konstantinos Floros, made a meaningful visit by going to the easternmost naval base of Crete in Kyriamadi.
It is an advanced base in Sitia, opposite Karpathos and Kasos.
Due to its strategic position, the Kyriamadi naval base played an important role in the Greek-Turkish crisis in 2020.
Lieutenant Panagiotis Kalathakis gifted General Floros with local delicacies.
The main purpose of the Kyriamadi naval base is to supply materials and provide facilities to the ships and submarines to maintain their combat capability.
