A sailing boat full of Gülenists seeking asylum from Turkey arrived in Crete on Sunday morning.
The boat arrived in the bay of Kouremenos in Sitia and according to sources used by eKriti, four men, two women and their children were the passengers.
According to what they said to authorities who located them, they are seeking political asylum in Greece to avoid being persecuted as supporters of Fethullah Gülen, a liberal Islamic preacher.
The Islamic preacher was once an ally of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan but the pair fell out of favour.
Erdoğan blames the now exiled Islamic preacher, living in Pennsylvania, for the 2016 coup attempt.
All that remains is to take the necessary steps to decide whether or not to grant asylum to these individuals.
It should be noted that the boat was taken to Kouremenos accompanied by vessels of the Hellenic Coast Guard.
