Scenes from a police movie unfolded in real life shortly after 13:00 on Thursday afternoon at the migrant camp in Thermopylae.
According to Lamia Now, the police had to be mobilized when they were called to intervene in an incident with an Iraqi who in a frantic state with an ax in his hand started breaking windows and threatening to do harm.
The reason for his outburst is because his request from the Ministry of Immigration to host him and his family at the camp was not accepted.
Reactions by the people in charge of the centre were immediate as they isolated him so that no one would be in danger until the police could calm him down and convince him to hand over the axe.
The Iraqi was then taken to the police station.
