Health Minister says 270,000 Greeks now vaccinated

Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias told SKAI TV on Sunday that 270,000 Greeks were vaccinated in January 2021, adding that the plan for February is to triple the number of vaccinations.

"In March we will do even more and in April and May we will massively vaccinate the Greek society" he added.

"If the common European supply of vaccines continues without other problems it is obvious that until the start of the summer, we will have vaccinated the vulnerable groups, those working in the health sector, the elderly and an important number of our compatriots in order to be able to say that we look to the future with optimism."

The minister continued that "we will continue to put pressure to the companies and talks and cooperate with EU every day.

Kikilias said there are two things that worry him and these are the mutations of the virus that we now find them everywhere in Greece and the other that the people are tired. "I want to make again a plea. Caution, caution, caution. We must observe the measures and take care one another".

Greece remains the only ‘green’ country on European coronavirus map

For three weeks, Greece has been the only country showing mostly green zones on the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) coronavirus map, indicating a low rate of novel coronavirus infections.

The map aims to support the Council Recommendation on a coordinated approach to the restriction of free movement in response to the pandemic.
