A search is underway for a two-seater training aircraft that went off the radar on Sunday in the area of Miliotades, in the Mitsikeli mountain range in Ioannina.
The only passenger on board was its pilot, 32-year-old Iraqi national, Amar Ibrahim.
He is one of about 100 trainee pilots from Iraq currently living in the city of Kozani. Ibrahim completed his first solo flight on July 28, 2020.
A number of forces are assisting in the search including Iraqi pilots (colleagues of the missing pilot), the Hellenic Fire Brigade, Police, Civil Protection personnel and EMAK rescue teams and volunteers.
