The “Special Urban Plan” for the construction of PAOK’s new stadium in Toumba was approved during a Metropolitan Planning Council of the Ministry of Environment and Energy meeting.
The plan envisages the modernisation of PAOK’s football facilities in the area of Toumba in the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
Developments will be for a stadium adhering to the specifications and requirements of FIFA and UEFA.
At the same time, the development is also for the urban regeneration project in the wider area of Toumba Stadium, as announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
As stated by Nikolaos Tagaras, Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, “the main goal of the Special Urban Plan is – together with the modernisation of field facilities – to renovate the wider area.”
According to Tagaras, “both the new stadium of PAOK and the area around it, will be a supra-local reference point and tourist attraction, with greenery, leisure, culture, events, and restaurants, contributing substantially to improving the image of Thessaloniki.”
