83% decline in passenger traffic at Greek airports due to COVID-19 restrictions

The decline in passenger traffic at all airports in Greece continues due to COVID-19 restrictions.

According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority, air traffic in January 2021 amounted to 383,463 passengers, showing a decrease of 83% compared to the corresponding period of 2020 where 25 million passengers traveled.

The big drop was expected, as in January 2020 no restrictive measures were imposed on travel and flights since the pandemic arrived in Greece at the end of February 2020.

As for flights from all airports in Greece, it amounted to 10,015.

7,448 were domestic and 2,567 were international travel, showing a decrease of 56.3%, compared to the corresponding period of 2020 where 22,900 flights were operated.

AEGEAN A320ceo 1In particular, for foreign passenger arrivals in January 2021, there was a decrease of 90.3%, which corresponds to 60,018 passengers compared to January 20 when there were 617,814 passengers.
